Texas Ranks Second In Total Veteran Population
Texas has an incredibly high veteran population. In fact, we have the second highest number of veterans by state in the whole country, second only behind California. Thankfully, Texas has many programs in place to help veterans with everything from mental health to housing to employment. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the veteran unemployment rate in Texas is just 3.6 percent, lower than the Texas average unemployment rate of 3.9 percent – and even lower than the national unemployment rate of 4.1 percent. With 1.6 million veterans in the state, though, that still leaves a lot of veterans struggling to find jobs.
